When the Titanic struck the iceberg, some of the watertight compartments ripped open and filled with water. Although the compartments had been designed to prevent the ship from flooding, they unexpectedly did not seal off incoming water. It may have been an engineer fail or the water pressure. Pressure increases 2 times i think at 10 feet under water
